The readings will be followed by a wine reception. This event is FREE and open to the public.

Oxford University Poetry Society is hosting Jamie McKendrick at the intimate Jericho bookshop, The Albion Beatnik, this evening. If you haven’t yet experienced a reading at this lovely Oxford bookshop, which was recently featured in The Guardian as “a viral success worth catching“, this is a perfect opportunity to do so. The reading is at 8pm, £4 for general admission, £3 for OUPS members.
This is our last reading of term before our special poetry showcase.
Everyone is very welcome to a completely free poetry workshop run by the University’s Oxford Poetry Society together with Mind Your Head Oxford. Feel free to bring a poem of your own, a poem by someone else, an idea for a poem you’d like to write, or nothing at all. We guarantee creative fun for all, and friendly and supportive feedback from student and local poetry lovers.
Oxford University Poetry Society is now accepting submissions for the Martin Starkie Prize for Poetry.
ABOUT THE PRIZE: The Martin Starkie Prize for Poetry is administered by the Oxford University Poetry Society. The prize is named for the Society’s founder, Martin Starkie, who established the Society in 1946. This prize highlights an emerging, noteworthy voice within the Oxford poetry community. The first place winner will be the primary and closing poet for a special poetry reading to be held in Trinity term, will receive a small gift in recognition of their work, and will be published in ASH magazine.
Eligibility: To enter the Martin Starkie Poetry Prize competition, you must either be a member of the University of Oxford or a poet who lives in Oxfordshire.
Deadline: The deadline for the prize is the 1st of June.
Submissions: The Martin Starkie Poetry Prize is judged by the entire committee, but this year the winning poem will be selected by our Vice President, Oli Hazzard. Oli Hazzard’s first book of poetry, Between Two Windows, was published by Carcanet in 2012. He is a DPhil student a Wolfson College, Oxford. Read more about Oli’s work here: http://www.carcanet.co.uk/cgi-bin/indexer?owner_id=980 Please submit ONE poem, no longer than 50 lines, to Oli directly: firstname.lastname@example.org
